GW crashes when visiting big towns... have used search button!
So here's the problem, when I try to visit any big towns (Rata Sum, Kamadan, ...) GW closes and I get the message 'Guild wars has encountered an unrecoverable graphics error and must terminate'. Yes I've found threads discussing this, changing GFX card etc. However, I was able to visit these towns, but just once... I got ran to Rata Sum, I entered, paid, then quit GW. Later I get back... and I can't re-enter because GW closes... now the character is stuck, obviously.
So I figured I should be able to re-enter that town again, because I've been there before... I tried lowering quality and resolution settings... Any other suggestions?
GFX card is an onboard G31/33 from Intel... Not good at all I know, but it seemed to work, so...
Thanks in advance
Edit: I bumped on alot of people getting this error while using Wine on a Mac, just to clarify, I just run Vista on a PC...

As you may know from the other threads, there are a lot of problems with Intel graphics cards. They are designed for business and low cost, not gaming. Anyway, have you tried putting Guild Wars into DX8 mode or turning off the shaders? Here is a link about how to do it. http://www.wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Command_line

Yes I've read that... and Now I have tried the command lines, without success, I'd like to add that my previous computer had an ATI Radeon 9250, which isn't onboard, and the quality was worse than on this computer with an onboard GFX card...

I guessed it wouldn't have worked because the card used in that thread is slightly better than mine... but nevertheless, it worked!
Thanks alot

well, with enough tweaking I was able to get an Intel GMA 940 to work on GW back in the day, so your's should be fine.... hehe Just out of curiosity, what FPS are you getting now?
